This is one of those "I'm pissed off so I'm going to post it things". This is a recreation of a thread posted on the Official ACen Forums. I (ACen Guy Brown) started the thread to see if people wanted to see a new section on this site. Lazerflesh (AKA: Justin) came in and started bashing our site for almost no reason at all. Remember all of this (unless otherwise noted) is word for word what was posted on the ACen Forums.
Everything posted in red is not part of the original posted thread. It is either a note by me (again, ACen Guy Brown) or a recreation of what was said

I was thinking about putting up a section on my site that deals with the meetings at Mitsuwa that occasionally occur. The section would have pictures and maybe comments. I just wanted to know what everyone thought of this before I just went ahead and did it.
I know Lazerflesh was planning to do this on his site (ACen Otaku Sexiness), but it seems that he was never able to get it off the ground.

If you're going to do all that than I'd say go for it. I don't really like the comments part though, some of your comments can be pretty damn demeaning - and we're all just trying to have some fun. I don't appreciate being reffered to as a pedophile on some public site with false accusations.
I'm going to put those pics up soon.. I just have a few ideas and wasn't really sure what to do. I'm afraid if I use freewebs comment feature it might look like I'm copying you.. What I'm thinking of doing is just laying out the files in plain hypertxt and give them appropriate lables for the pic.

Well i dunno what I am going to do. I will let the polls tell me what to do.
As far as the demeaning comments. Most of us ACen Guys are opinionated people who say what ever we think. This sometimes makes our comments seem cruel. I don't think I have made to many mean comments towards people. As for everyone else there are scattered comments around that are slightly demeaning. But they are just one persons opinions so I hope no one is offended by them.

Opinions are fine as opinions. And everyone is entitled to theirs, but slander such as bad comments on peoples costumes... flat out saying people shouldn't be at the con, insults on peoples weight, etc, are all out of line.. you really need to think a little more when you put something on a website that hundreds of people are going to be looking at. I don't think you'd appreciate it if I put a picture of you, or Jill up at a time I didn't like you and said something like;

- see this is where Jill couldn't control her emotions and stormed out of Dennies crying because she heard something she didn't like.

- this is when Brown yelled at me for being a couple hours late to one of our Mitsuwa meetings, I would have been there earlier if Silver didn't have to drive all the way to Rockford to come and pick me up. Right than I knew that the rest of the day was going to suck.

- I'm not really sure if these guys are my friends or not, they kind of go back and forth on me. I think their opinion of me is kind of warped by their new sidekick, may be they'd like me better if I never made my site.

- here's a pic of pingtron looking sad, the guy caught on to the meetup.. and if you look to the upper left you can actually see them running away from the guy. poor man.. he deserves more respect, the guy's better than that.
on that note I could also upload the "nerr song" to my site, I'm sure plenty of people would love to hear "ACen gal" Jills ~wonderful~ singing. (The Nerr song was something Jill created when she was bored, I havn't heard it because she won't let me. But word has it thats its not so good.)

Now, don't get pissed off, I don't want this to be flame war #234234 that we've had on the ACen forum, I'm just trying to proove a point, and I know you know I'm not the only one to think like this. I've seen quite a few negative sentiments pointed in your, and your sites direction. All I'm asking is that in your comments you be a little bit more considerate about the way you address people.
Ah, one question, Matt.. how many times have you used the poll system to find out the public opinion?

While I believe that saying the truth is fine, I must request you leave Jill out of this. She has tried her best to stay out of contact with you yet you keep coming back (usually through my doing). Please, this argument was between me and you I find it very rude and inconsiderite of you to drag other people into it. I take back part of what I said, in retrospect it was wrong of me to say that you can make fun of my friends in an argument between me and you. It is obvious that you have something against me and my friends, I just have no idea what that is. I don't think I have done anything or said anything to you without provotion from you first. Why ever it is you don't like us I am sorry, but please leave those who arn't here to defend themselves of of it.
(I know how hypocritical this comment is to what I said earlier about the ACen Guys comments, but well I guess I'm a hypocrite)

I have looked through the Acen Brown Guy's page, and I stopped, because so many of the comments were rude and demeaning... and I was rather glad that my pictures (with probably a demeaning comment, since I cosplay as a FF character) was not on the page.
It is your page, but I still don't think it's necessary to make such comments. I mean, does putting people down make you feel go, and that's why you do it? Because I can't think of any other reason why you would put those up n your page.
But that's just me.

OK well none of us seem to know why our comments are "rude and demeaning". Can someone please tell us what they consider rude and demeaning please.
The only example I can think of that people have given is the "RANDOM COSPLAYER!" which was never meant to insult and still isn't mant to insult. Well no I take that back it was an insult... towards me, Because my lack of knowledge of anime is so vast.
I understand people put a lot of work into their costumes, but sometimes they is an apparent lack of effort put into them as well. A prime example is our own (or former) ACen Guy Dan whos Tetsuo costume at ACen '03 was the worst thing I have ever seen.
Also I know I commented one or twice about people "who should not have been there". This is usually when someone cosplays something that isn't an anime series (IE: Star Wars, Spongebob, Futurama, etc.).
I seem to have noticed that the people who complain about the site are the people who take their anime fandom way to seriously. All of us who work on the site don't, we realize that we like to do something that is kinda looked down upon by society as "nerdy" or "stupid". So in conclusion if your gonna cosplay you should be prepared to take criticisms, wether its behind your back or posted on the site. Otherwise you should probably not be cosplaying to begin with.

Well, you were insulting most of the FF cosplayers... and ranted to the extreme about non-anime hallway cosplay... which is not against Acen's rules.
One or two comments would have been okay to deal with, but it got old after a while, and made me want to not visit your page again.

Sorry I am a person who tends to rant... I have this policy I started the site with which was to post every picture we took. This has gotten things to be boring and stupid in some cases. Like the Final Fantasy shoots, I am not a big fan of Final Fantasy and a even bigger annoance of mine is all the Final Fantasy cosplayers. Again something that bothers only me, but I also must post a comment on picture after picture of these shots of Final Fantasy cosplayers. I never meant to really insult them, most of thier costumes are downright fantastic.
I think I only ranted once or twice about non-anime cosplayers. I just think they don't belong at an anime convention even if it is ok by the rules.

No, I find your comments offensive... if you don't like FF cosplayers, then don't take pictures of them... Or better yet, don't make comments... it's not a necessary thing.

There inlies the problem. I only take about 15% of the pictures, the majority is taken by ACen Guy Neal. Plus every year the cosplayers are about 35% Final Fantasy. So since we cover the con we are likely to get a lot of Final Fantasy cosplayers.
I make it my policy to comment on every picture just because it looks bad when there is a picture with no comment.

Well, I just have to be fair on some things what I see:
It is our choice to visit a site or not, and if you happen not to like a website, then don't visit it. If you want to comment on a website (or give advice to improve the site) it would be appreciated if you e-mail the person directly, instead of bringing it up in a public place. Because to me, it is unfair to the site owner and it makes like you're trying to bash the site (eventhough I know it's not your intentions).
As for the site content itself, maybe it would be better if there's some sort of site disclamer (maybe you do have it, I just didn't notice ^_^ Nevertheless, you can put down something like if the person in the picture doesn't like the comments, you can take it off etc.
There's really no need to make a fuss about this. If you don't like it, then leave it. If you are really concern, tell the person privately (except issues which involves a big amount of people)
Again, that's just my two cents in it...

Quite a conundrum seems to have erupted here...
Matt's policies on the ACen Guy site are his own, and I respect him for them. He chooses to post every picture taken, regardless of whether or not they need to be. (ie. Eric's eye.) I personally feel some of his policies should be re-thought, as I do not exactly agree with them word for word... but that is up to him.
I agree with the things Arina said in her last post, but I would hope that things can be sorted out. We really don't mean to turn people off to our site. We made it to be helpful to people, not harmful.

I find it rather ironic that you choose to end that entry with "peace", lazer.
It seemed to me that the discussion had at least calmed down from where it was
before, and you choose to continue this course of events. Your lust for
conflict and attention will not end well.
In my personal opinion, I don't like lazer...never have. I choose to ignore and
avoid the things I dislike if they let me. As such I am a rather positive
person when it comes to most things. I only choose to speak now because it
seems to me that lazer is just calling out for attention and he just won't let
this thing die.
I know someone will try and group my opinion with that of the other ACen Guys,
but to do so is foolish. My thoughts and actions are my own. If I seem
arrogant or conceited... then you just go on thinking that.
No one has any direct documentation of what was said in the rest of the thread. One of the few to see it before it was deleted was ACen Guy Joe (Samurai Joe), this is a summary of what he remembers seeing based on his words. This is my best recreation of what might of happened.

Seriously, I don't know how this whole thing started between you guys and I frankly don't care. It's been mentioned repeatedly that you go back and forth between friend and enemy? Since I'm assuming all involved parties are adults, a term that's becoming increasingly difficult to define, can someone explain to me (without further flaming, I already have a fever and I'm hot enough as is) why you can't just go back to friend and leave it at that instead of flip-flopping like a fish out of water?
